A WARM and heartfelt service was held at Potter Street Baptist Church to remember the life of Steve Hulcoop who had passed away at the age of 80.
In a service led by Rev Alison Taylor and Rev Lynda Hulcoop, heartfelt tributes were made to a man whose eccentricities many found maddening but loveable.

Lynda Hulcoop took us through Steve’s life from being brought up in Old Road in a life that was always active and full of adventure.
Steve had a long relationship with the Boys Brigade. Steve and the rest of his family developed a strong relationship with the Baptist Church where there was a natural synergy in his relationship with the community.

The quirkiest stories seem to involve cable ties, Vauxhall Vivas in some state of disrepair and taking a volleyball team to Northern Ireland in the heart of the troubles. Oh and travelling on the Trans-Siberian Express, where he got frostbite!
Steve did a huge amount of work for the homeless and worked with a large number of charities including Streets2Homes.
Remarkably, he also ran 25 London Marathons between 1986 and 2012.
The love for Stephen Victor Hulcoop radiated the room. One of the great Harlow personalities has run his rave. With Jesus at the end and we are very grateful for the memories.
Film of the service is below.
