St Mark’s celebrate exceptionally good GCSE results

ST Mark’s West Essex Catholic School celebrated another year of exceptionally good GCSE results with students of all abilities across the year group achieving well.
Excitement and joy were evident as students opened results this morning and began enrolling on the next stage of study, training or employment.
Headteacher John Taylor said “These are another strong set of results, and we can all feel rightly proud of them.
We had some excellent A Level results last week and today caps a great fortnight for our school community. I am so proud of these young people and of their achievements. Every year they, and their teachers, turn out these performances and they deserve this success. Having met this vital milestone, they have many options and most of them will be with us in the Sixth Form where they will achieve even more”.
Some notable achievements included:
Isaiah Adjei, who achieved a total of 10 GCSEs which included 7 grade 9s. Isaiah, who will be studying A Levels in Economics, Maths and Geography, said “I am overjoyed with my results and in many ways, I have exceeded my expectations. I am grateful to the school for all the help and support I have had”.

Evan Bartlett notched up 10 grades with an incredible 8 grade 9s. Reacting as he opened his results, Evan said “I am delighted at my amazing grades, and I have been so supported by the staff here. I will be staying in the Sixth Form to study Maths, Physics, Computer Science and Theology”.

Kusai Besheya landed 10 GCSEs which included 5 grade 9s. Kusai said he was “very happy” with his grades. When it comes to the success, he said he had received plenty of support: “I can’t even give myself credit, it has to be my teachers.” With a longer-term plan of studying Medicine, his next step is to take Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Psychology at A Level.

Eric Oommen bagged 10 GCSEs with 6 graded 7 to 9. He described himself as “very pleased with his results” and is looking forward to A Levels and a longer-term plan of a career in finance.

Harry Burnett secured 10 GCSEs with 6 grade 9s and said “I am so happy with my results and pleased with how I have done. I am grateful to the staff for the support I have had.” Harry plans to stay in the Sixth Form to study Maths, Economics, Politics and Theology.

Jared Avengoza garnered 10 GCSEs with 5 grade 8s and a 9 and was delighted with his results. Jared said, “I am really happy with these results, and they enable me to study my A Levels”. Jared will be studying Biology, Chemistry and Psychology with a view to reading psychiatry at university.

Carys Cofie achieved 9 GCSEs which featured 8 grades 7-9. She also achieved a Distinction Star in her Cambridge national qualification. Looking back over the last two years, she said she has enjoyed the “memories, the trips” and was grateful for all the support she received. She is going to study the Sciences and Psychology at A Level.

Vaughn Mojzes racked up an exceptional 10 GCSEs with 5 graded 7-9. Vaughn said, “I am extremely happy with my results and pleased with the support I have had”. He will be studying Biology, Chemistry and Maths and at university he hopes to read Forensics.

Arthur Nobre-Colussi celebrated great success and scored 10 GCSEs with 5 graded 7-9. Arthur said he performed “a lot better” than he thought he would. He now plans to study Physics, German and Art in the Sixth Form with a goal of doing an apprenticeship in Architecture.

Lucja Ostrowska harvested 9 GCSEs which included 4 grades 8 and 2 grade 9. Lucja said, “I am really pleased with these results, they are even better than I expected”. Lucja will be studying Maths, Psychology, Sociology and Theology.

Kajus Skauronas obtained 10 GCSEs which included an impressive 8 at grade 8. Kajus said that while the GCSE journey became “a bit stressful towards the end,” the extra sessions and hard work “definitely” paid off. He is going to be studying Maths, Physics, Geography and Tech, with aspirations to work in Engineering.

Evie Wills secured 10 GCSEs with 8 graded 7-9 and this included 2 9s. Evie said she was glad that the “hard work paid off”. She plans to do Politics, Biology and PE at A Level, harbouring a longer-term desire to work in the world of sport.
