New organisation to support Harlow Homeschool Hub

A NEW initiative is launching in Harlow to provide dedicated support for the town’s rapidly growing number of home-educating families. The “Harlow Homeschool Hub,” created by The Innovation Network, aims to provide practical resources and community support to empower parents and enhance the learning experience for children outside the traditional school system.

The number of children being home-schooled in Essex has seen a “massive increase” in recent years, with a conservative estimate suggesting there could be over 1,300 home-educated children in Harlow alone.
Families are choosing to home-educate for complex reasons, often because they need better support for their child’s specific needs, particularly around SEND and mental health. They take on the entire financial and logistical burden, from sourcing materials to navigating the incredibly stressful and expensive process of arranging exams as a ‘private candidate,’ which can cost up to £200 per subject at specialist centres.
The Harlow Homeschool Hub aims to address these challenges directly by offering:
AI-Powered Personalised Learning: Helping parents understand and leverage AI tools to create customised learning materials that support every learning style and interest.
A Co-Working Space: A dedicated space for home-educating parents to work and connect with peers, combating the isolation that can come with homeschooling.
Practical Exam Entry Support: A hub for information and guidance to help families navigate the complex process of finding an exam centre and registering for GCSEs and A-Levels.
To launch the initiative, The Innovation Network will be hosting an introductory talk. Local homeschooling families are invited to attend to learn more and help shape this new resource.
