Harlow MP Chris Vince welcomes extra investment to give employers hiring incentives to take on young people

CHRIS Vince MP has welcomed extra investment from the Government to give employers hiring incentives to take on young people.

This comes as Chris Vince MP convenes key local and regional partners in Harlow to tackle youth unemployment and establish a local NEET Taskforce to reduce the number of young people not in education, training, or work in Harlow.

Nationally, the number of young people classified as NEET (not in employment, education, or training) has been rising for four years.

Together with leaders from local colleges, local schools, local employers, and key representatives, Chris Vince MP will urge greater local coordination to combat youth inactivity. Local leaders discussed how new pathways could be opened up for young people in Harlow.

The group will now discuss the Government’s Youth Guarantee, which has recently received an extra £1 billion in funding, bringing the total for the scheme to £2.5 billion. This will help pay for a £3,000 hiring incentive for 18-24-year-olds out of work for six months and an apprenticeship incentive of £2,000 for a young person taken on by an SME. It will also pay for the expansion of the Jobs Guarantee to 18-24-year-olds who are long-term unemployed.

Chris Vince MP said:

“When our young people succeed, Harlow succeeds. I refuse to write off a generation of young people in Harlow to a life on benefits. It’s an injustice for them and harms our local economy. Harlow is full of talent, and this is a talent that I see every time I visit schools or colleges in our area.  The arrival of the UK Health Security Agency, new businesses coming to our town, and more apprenticeships on offer – this decade will be an exciting time to be young in Harlow. My job is to make sure all these new doors are open to everyone across the town and constituency. With me, young people have an MP who is on their side and will deliver them opportunities.

“This is a crisis of opportunity that demands action. Young people here deserve our support and deserve the chance to learn or earn.

“The Youth Guarantee means that more young people will be able to access training or an apprenticeship. I’m really pleased the Government has pledged more money to invest in helping young people.”

Partners will discuss expanding work placements, improving careers advice, and strengthening links between employers and colleges, and ensuring that young people furthest from the labour market receive tailored support.

this shows the insanity of the political class and those who only ever worked in the public sector. Jobs have been destroyed by two terrible budgets which increased the cost of employing people. Consequently employment and especially youth employment is down, government were warned this was the case but Rachael from complaints knew best. Only she did not and exactly what she was told would happen has happened. Now they are going to give money back which was taxed to solve the issue they created. The solution is not to tax it in the first place and let companies grow but that is lost to the political classes as they see everything from the state.

Agree 100% Adam. I feel labour doesn't really get it, I voted for them because the tories were so bad, sadly labour seems as sleasy and as incompetent.

He needs to get his head out of where the sun don't shine. This government are ruining businesses with their taxes, and so many are struggling. He hasn't got a clue about the real world!

Exactly Adam, you couldn’t make it up could you. Labour create the mess and then pay companies to employ people, unbelievable. Do they then expect people to congratulate them ?

Chris Vince says: "I see every time I visit schools or colleges in our area." I think we have all noticed this fixation on visiting schools. Maybe, Chris ought to ramp up the number of businesses he visits. This would inform him why the Employer National Insurance rise in rate and lowering of the threshold at the same time were a bad idea.

"CHRIS Vince MP has welcomed extra investment from the Government " - No Chris, it's the taxpayers money. "I refuse to write off a generation of young people in Harlow" - No Chris, that's a straw man argument. Nobody asked you to write them off.

By the way, Vince mentions the "arrival of the UK Health Security Agency". Has anyone noticed any construction work on the Pinnacles site? Perhaps, the bosses at Porton Down are still trying to coerce staff not to accept redundancy terms instead of a lower quality of life moving to Harlow? If you have ever driven around the Porton Down laboratories, you will understand why.

So since this labour Government have been in power... They have given away the chaos islands, recognising Palistine. 13 Minster resignations. Having full confidence in Peter Mandelson, Morgan McSweeny, Sue Grahame and Lord Ally. BLAMING The far Right for an Island of Strangers. 16 policy UTURNS. Having No operable war ships. NOT Smashing the Gangs. Approving a Chinese Embassy. Appointing an anti Muslim hostility tsar. Raising income tax, Inheritance tax, National insurance, Capital gains tax, council tax, mansion tax, value added tax, increasing welfare spending and minimum wage while freezing tax allowances. Scrapping jury trials. Spending 17 seconds laying a wreath in Southport to then rush back to a drinks party. This labour Government manifesto was built on a complete foundation of lies. That's not what people voted for. Labour have been ignorant and arrogant, Not listening or giving a toss about the people of this country. You can't tell me this labour Government and you Chris vince are that thick or blind to see that the majority of this country want you Lot out!! How do you sleep at night? Knowing our women and children are at risk to sexual abuse, rape and murder from these illegals. There is no security. Paying billions to keep these people who shouldn't even be here, handing them everything for free. No wonder why they all are flooding in to this country. disgrace of so called government. This country is being changed beyond recognition. Labour and you are responsible for all the above. Shame on you and your labour rabble. This government lacks the real criteria. HONESTY, INTEGRITY. WORKING FOR the BRITISH People and the good of this country. Unfortunately you all fail on every level. Your in it for yourselves and no one else!
