THE long run of successful planning applications to convert houses into children’s homes has come to an end.

All five Conservative councillors on the committee voted to reject the plan in relation to a home in Fold Croft.
The decision was made at Wednesday night’s planning committee meeting.
Three Labour councillors voted to support the application.
The three Labour luvvies voted to prop up an unsustainable commercial enterprise in a private home that was far too small. Conservative councillor James Leppard highlighted this lucrative business of child care can cost taxpayers anywhere between £4,000 and £10,000 per week per child. He preferred to see investment in dedicated premises with far better facilities for children. Councillor Johnson highlighted planning policy H4 and the loss of residential homes. Watch from 12mins 21secs.
As usual, the Starmer-led Labour Party supporting privatisation of care and being totally unconcerned about the exorbitant cost to taxpayers.
This follows the example recently set by Thurrock Council, they have also rejected these Children’s homes for the same reasons. They are costing the LA’s a huge amount of money to run these properties, with little or no control over where these children being accommodated are originally from. Probably from areas where the suitable properties are too expensive to purchase or the LA’s are already refusing these planning applications.
