THE FORMER chair of Harlow Council, Maggie Hulcoop is standing down as a councillor after many years of service.

On Wednesday night, the Labour councillor made a valedictory speech in which she reflected on her duties and experiences as chair of the council.

Councillor since 1996 - we need term limits so very badly.

Adam, your councillors are voted in by the residents. So it's proof that Maggie Hulcoop was liked for many years.

The best thing anyone can say about Maggie, is that she was universally liked throughout the Chamber by colleagues and opponents alike. She has retired once before, and brought back! Something else that tells you all about her. Happy retirement Maggie, and thank you for your service to our town. Mark Gough Reform UK.
