Climate: People’s Emergency Briefing set to be held next week

Education: Secondary / Wed 1st Apr 2026 at 09:11am

CLIMATE and nature breakdown will affect every constituency in the country, from health and food
systems to infrastructure, security and economic stability.

This crisis is more serious and immediate than many understand. There is strong evidence that bold, urgent ac on will improve lives and livelihoods, but the window of opportunity is narrowing as we delay.

About the Film

The 45-minute film will combine authoritative scientific content from the Westminster event with
reactions from members of the public and some more familiar faces – designed to help audiences
process the informa on on a more human level. It will deliver the frank facts about the threats,
but also the enormous benefits if Government leads genuine emergency ac on.

Many of those attending the Westminster event commented that although the facts are alarming,
they felt a sense of optimism about confronting the challenge together and seeing a pathway to a
better future.

“What stood out most was the shared tone: frank, non-partisan, and rooted in public service. The
speakers painted a picture of a country unprepared, but not incapable.”
Royal Meteorological Society

A National Community Screening Programme

Each screening is intended to be followed by a structured discussion, supported by guidance from
the NEB team to ensure conversations remain construc ve and focused on solutions, and to help
people process the information.

By enabling communities and decision-makers to:
engage with the same evidence together, the screening programme aims to create informed
dialogue at local and national level.

This will be a free, ticketed event. Tea, coffee and so drinks will be available for a small CASH
donation to St Stephen’s Church.

Ahhh the lunatics are at it again. the climate is always changing, much of the data is dodgy the models are even worse. we need to drill baby drill, build nuclear.

Adam, go along and broaden your horizons. You never know, the facts might just convert you! Anyhow, for most working class people the issue is not whether climate change is real or imagined, but who pays the price to fix it?

Paul King

Adam, the tickets are free, please book to come along and find out what REAL scientists are saying through actual research, world-wide observations and EVIDENCE.

Working class people are poorer David because of the fixation on climate change. we are less than 0.1% of the worlds emissions. China and India do not care, neither should we

Which lunatics are at it again Adam? The lunatics who actually care about the environment and the planet we will be leaving for our future generations? Or the lunatics who listen to expert scientifoc advice and guidance? Please do come along and if you still feel we are lunatics after the showing, so be it.

I remember back in the 80’s when climate scientist said we would all be knee deep in acid rain by 2015. You got to hand to them for monetising the weather though.

Guy, action was taken to a very acid rain (which WE sent to Norway), as we also took action to protect the ozone layer of the atmosphere by banning CFCs. Both these action prove we CAN make a difference, if we KNOW about the danger. Please book a ticket and find out what the scientists and experts are saying (again!) and what should be done to avoid more fires, floods, and food and energy crises. These aren't going away by themselves!

Adam, we have not even STARTED paying to adapt to the increasing climate crisis yet! And how about removing the threats of further energy crises caused by oil, and be self-sufficient in renewables, which Trump and co can't switch off. As the Spanish, they've done just that! And both the Chinese and Indians have green energy plans in place. For example, the Chinese have installed more solar panels than the rest of the world COMBINED.

The figures for cop 30 (2025). Tens of thousands of acres of rainforest were felled to create a 4 lane motorway to the cop conference centre in Brazil. Labour sent 210 delegates to cop 30 in Brazil but globally 50,000 delegates were sent to Cop 30. 1,079,000 air miles was logged by attendees, equivalent to nearly 800 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions. 350 private aircraft are reported to have carried delegates to the summit as well as national and international commercial flights. Now if these folk are our environmental saviours, why didn't they use zoom so they wouldn't have to chop down tens of thousands of acres, didn't need to fly tens of thousands of delegates and use thousands of planes to make very little change? The U.K. produces 0.8% of global emissions, anything we do is meaningless unless the top three polluters change. The biggest problem the U.K. has in regards to renewables is something the Germans call Dunkelflaute. It means no wind and no sun or in regards to the U.K. , autum and winter. Without conventional methods, the U.K. would be missing a substantial size of it's power need at the time of year it's needed the most. The green industry is as much about cash as it is about planet and some need to be more honest about that.

Seamus, I totally agree with the COP issues you've highlighted - the elites are SO dictated to by the fossil fuel corporations that we MUST change their actions. We should do own best to be 'green' but unless we make the issue of climate collapse the massive issue that it is and put it front and centre of the news agenda, then we WILL suffer the consequences, which will cost even more than the policies we should adopt to avoid them. BTW I suspect that 0.8% figure excluded .any factors, such as flying and manufacturing, that SHOULD include - if we are flying we should count it!
