IT proved an excellent weekend overall for Harlow Town Cricket Club, with the club collecting two emphatic victories from their three Herts and Essex Border League fixtures.

The standout result came for the 1st XI, who dismantled Matching Green 2nd XI by 10 wickets in Division Two. Anil Clarke’s outstanding 5 for 14 and Sam Wilson’s disciplined opening spell bundled the hosts out for just 58 before Ben Tyne and George Richardson completed the chase inside eight overs without alarm.

The 3rd XI also enjoyed an impressive afternoon in Division Four, chasing down 213 to beat St Margaretsbury 4th XI by five wickets. James Williamson led from the front with a sparkling 67, while Daniel Dewey contributed superbly with both bat and ball, taking 3 for 21 before striking 53 in Town’s successful pursuit.

The 2nd XI were unable to make it a clean sweep, despite several encouraging performances against Abridge 2nd XI in Division Three. Rajapriyian Murugaiyan anchored the innings with a determined 50, while Hansal Dave impressed in both disciplines, scoring 33 and then claiming 3 wickets as Town reduced the visitors to 5 for 3 early in the chase.

With victories for the 1st and 3rd XIs and several strong individual displays throughout the club, the Townies continue to build encouraging momentum in the early weeks of the league season.
