Music and Literature come together at The Gibberd Garden

Entertainment / Fri 26th Jun 2026 at 08:01am

VISITORS to The Gibberd Garden this Sunday (28 June) are in for a musical treat as the Šuma Quartet performs a free afternoon of live music from 3pm to 4pm.

Presented by Saffron Hall as part of its partnership with Harlow District Council, the performance forms part of the Essex Book Festival’s Harlow Weekend, complementing the festival’s programme of talks and events taking place at the Garden throughout the afternoon.

The Garden will be open as usual from 2pm to 6pm, meaning regular visitors can enjoy an unexpected soundtrack to their visit while exploring one of Harlow’s most distinctive cultural spaces.

The quartet will perform an accessible programme featuring well-loved classical favourites alongside contemporary string arrangements inspired by the popular Bridgerton soundtrack, blending classical music with familiar pop songs in an informal outdoor setting.

The performance is free with normal Garden admission, offering visitors the chance to enjoy live music in the unique surroundings of Sir Frederick Gibberd’s celebrated garden.
