POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a shoplifter assaulted a security guard in Harlow.

A man walked into Boots, in Broad Walk, at about 11.05am on December 19 and selected two electric toothbrushes from the display.

He then left the store without paying with a security guard in pursuit.

The suspect shoved the security guard, knocking him to the ground.
