FIRE CREWS wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel and a dry powder extinguisher to tackle a kitchen fire in Pittmans Field in Harlow. Crews arriving at the scene reported that a gas oven was well alight.

Once the fire was out, crews used a high pressure fan to clear the kitchen of smoke.

The incident was dealt with by 04:40 hrs. A fire investigation will be carried out to establish the cause.
