150th Anniversary Celebration & Victorian Bank Holiday Weekend
A fitting party to celebrate 150 years of the Epping Ongar Railway.
They will have Victorian themes but will also be remembering other key periods in the Railway’s 150 year history during their three-day extravaganza.
This year marks 150 years since the opening of the line between Loughton and Ongar. In April, we celebrated with a gathering of Eastern-region steam engines. This August, we’ll be celebrating further with a Victorian Bank Holiday.
The Epping Ongar Railway is welcoming a mixture of ‘posh’ and ‘scruffy’ members of the Seven Dial Rapscallions for the bank holiday weekend. They will interact with our travelling public and may cause a spot of mayhem!
The group will be touring around the Railway over the weekend and also be undertaking a special ‘opening ceremony’ at Ongar Station with the arrival of the 1245 train from North Weald.
Anyone dressed in Victorian costume for the day (as judged by our booking office staff) will be entitled to travel for free on our trains!
