TENPIN BOWLING TOURNAMENT
The annual Harlow Youth Tenpin Bowling Club verses their parents and members of The Harlow Senior Rollers team was a very closely contested match with just seventy pins seperating the two teams. The match was won by the junior team with a score of 5485 pins compared with the adults team with 5415 pins.
The star of the day was eight year old Ella Braby, one of the newest members of the Youth Team, whose second game was 109, the first time that she has got a score of over 100. Another junior team member, ten year old James Glassbrooke also had his best ever score, when knocking down 116 pins in his third game.
Seniors in Braintree
Eighteen members of the Harlow Senior Rollers team recently travelled to
Braintree Bowl to play a team from Collier Row. Their last encounter with the
Collier Row team saw them suffer a heavy defeat, but on this occasion the
tables were turned. Whilst the Collier Row team scored a creditable total of
8602 pins, this was topped by the Harlow team who scored 8825 pins. The
best games of the day by a Harlow bowler were rolled by Chris Doe who had
a 196, closely followed by Les Hall with a 194. Chris also had the days high
three game series with a 520. The ladies high game was bowled by Polly
Barlow who scored 176 and also had the high three game series of 437.
League Finale
The Harlow Senior Rollers twenty nine week season saw a nail biting finish with the top six players all in with a chance to win the league, going into the final week.
In the end it was a family one two finish with Joyce Chatterton finishing with 307 points followed by her husband Paul who had 292 points. In third place was John Ward with 284 and fourth Chris Precious with 262.
The seasons high mens handicapped game was won by Les Hall with a 279 game, the mens high handicapped series was won by Chris Precious with a 719 series, For the ladies, the high handicapped game was jointly won by Polly Barlow and Bev Banner with 259 and the high handicapped series was
won by Bev with a 691 series.
