Rent Team controversy: Family “distance themselves” from son

THE FAMILY at the centre of the controversy over the closure of the Rent Team offices in Harlow have distanced themselves from their son, Sanjit Alangh.

As reported, two weeks ago landlords and tenants have claimed that they are “owed thousands” after the shop, situated in the West Gate, Harlow, shut last month.

The aggrieved landlords and tenants, believe that the owner, named in Companies House as Sanjit Alangh, has a number of questions to answer.

The company is based in Basildon but a number of aggrieved clients, traced Mr Alangh to the family home in North Weald.

YourHarlow paid a visit to the plush estate in Tempest Mead, North Weald. Despite their being a car in the drive and windows open, nobody answered the door.

However, there was a sign in the window, informing people that the family had nothing to do with the activities of Sanjit Alangh and gave out what appeared to be the mobile phone number of Mr Alangh as well as the details of the company responsible for the administration of Rent Team Harlow.

In a twist of fate, a journalist for YourHarlow’s sister paper, YourThurrock passed by the Rent Team office on Orsett Road, Grays on Saturday (June 29th) night.

As he did so, he saw a number of people, taking equipment out of the office. When asked, the staff told him that the shop was now closed.

YH understands that this premises is run by Jaz Alangh, brother of Sanjit.

YH rang the Rent Team, Grays but the answer machine was full.

A spokeswoman from Essex Police said: “Police have been made aware of a number of incidents (in Harlow)rentteam and are currently investigating allegations of fraud.”
