A 20-YEAR-OLD man from Harlow, arrested earlier this year on suspicion of murder, attempted murder, arson and burglary, has had his bail extended until September 16th, this year.

The suspect, who has not been named by police, has been questioned about his involvement in the suspected arson attack which claimed the lives of six members of the Shakoor family in Barn Mead, near Southern Way last October.

Mum Sabah Usmani (44) and children Hira (12) , Sohaib (11), Muneeb (9), Rayyan (6) and Maheen (3) all died after the blaze ripped through the family’s end-of-terrace home in Barn Mead on October 15 last year.

The children’s father, Dr Abdul Shakoor, survived the fire after jumping from a first-floor window to raise the alarm.

Dr Shakoor recently returned to the area to unveil memorial benches at Abbotsweld primary school.barnmead
