Hockey: Taylor-made hat-trick wins it for Harlow

A TRACEY Taylor hat-trick was the difference in this splendid 5-3 victory for Harlow 2s over East London.

Harlow played away and had 10 players against 12 outfield East London players. East London decided to play without a goalie or a kicker back.

First goal was link up play between Lucy Dearman and Tanishka Naidoo which allowed Harlow to break into the East London for Tracey Taylor to be denied a goal by an East London defenders foot on the line. The umpire gave a penalty flick but as East London had no goalie a goal was awarded to Tracey Taylor.

East London then scored making it 1-1 making it seem as if not having a goalie made no difference.

Tracey Taylor then scored her second goal with an assist from Nina Johnson-Marshall 2-1.

Tracey Taylor secured her hat trick with a good ball coming out of defence 3-1

East London scored their second 3-2.

Half time.

East London came out after half time talk stronger and got their third goal making it 3-3.

Harlow’s defence worked well at keeping east london out of our d with good clearences from Nicole Donaghey, Alex Figg, Olivia Figg wih some brilliant saves from keeper Sandra Figg.

Harlow worked hard to try and get it back but having only 10 players started to show.

A free hit was awarded to Harlow just outside the East London which allowed Sarah Donaghey to just walk it in and take a shot putting Harlow back in the lead. 4-3

A good ball from defence allowed link up play between Sarah Donaghey and Stephanie Hawes allowed Stephanie Hawes to finish and place the ball in the bottom left corner securing Harlow’s 5-3 win.
