Whatever happened to the Maunds Hatch money?

Politics / Mon 23rd Dec 2013 am31 09:21am

RESIDENTS from the Maunds Hatch area of the town asked Harlow Council on Thursday night: “Whatever happened to the Maunds Hatch money?”

The money they refer to is the proceeds arising from the sale of land at Maunds Hatch which they believed was ring-fenced in order to provide the Staple Tye area with a new community centre

Portfolio holder, Tony Durcan said: “The capital receipt was £598.363. The council tried to assist local residents to produce a business plan but a case could not be made.

The sums received paid for dog bins, bus shelters and community building improvements.”

Mr Cheema was not happy with the answer and indicated that a further investigation through an audit trail may throw light on how much has been invested in the area.

Blimey a lot of poo bins in the staple tye ward and lots of other works. Perhaps Cllr Durcan can publish this money spent. Or has it been transferred into the general fund for use right across town and projects it wasn't meant to be for???
