Charitable Grants available to Harlow groups

HARLOW Recreation Trust is inviting applications through January and February to support charitable projects undertaken by voluntary and community organisations which support the development of recreational skills, knowledge and talent for the benefit of people living in Harlow.

Grants of up to £10,000 and can be requested to meet the fund’s criteria and the panel are particularly interested in hearing from organisations who have not made an approach to the fund before.

The Harlow Recreation Trust is managed by Essex Community Foundation (ECF) and the grants team are happy to discuss potential applications on 01245 356018.

Examples of grants made by the panel to date include:

£865 to Streets2Homes to provide arts and crafts sessions for those attending the homeless day centre in Harlow

£6,500 to BATTS Table Tennis Club to enable the fitting out of a new extension to the sports hall at the Norman Booth Centre in Old Harlow

£9,600 to Razed Roof to run arts and drama activities for young people with severe learning difficulties and disabilities

£3,418 to Friends of Harlow Sculptures & Gibberd Gallery towards the costs of maintaining sculptures, transport for tours, updating and reprinting sculpture maps and promotional materials

Caroline Taylor, Programmes Director at ECF said: “This is an excellent opportunity for Harlow groups planning summer projects and activities, though funding is for one year and can therefore support ongoing activity. The panel have supported some excellent projects through the fund which have benefited many Harlow residents”
