THE CHOCOLATE Run is delighted to announce the sponsorship of a new cooker for the ‘Playbarn’ (sports hall) at Great Parndon Community Association by Daniels Estate Agents, London. Daniels offered sponsorship after a Twitter campaign by Vic Goddard, Principal of Passmores Academy to replace the current cooker.
The new cooker will be of significant benefit to The Chocolate Run. During the Christmas homeless haven at GPCA this year (23 December – 1 January), the charity has fed up to 40 guests at any one time.
A spokesperson said: “The new cooker will enable us to create warm and nourishing meals more quickly and efficiently for those in need. The cooker will also be of wider community benefit to the GPCA (as owners of the Playbarn).
“The Chocolate Run is a charity based in Harlow supporting the homeless and vulnerably housed. As well as the Christmas haven, we also run a regular Sunday food and clothing drop-in at GPCA. These projects involve around 150 volunteers from the local area and add up to approximately 2000 volunteer hours per year.
“The charity is a voluntary organisation and is reliant on corporate and individual donations. The Chocolate Run is run by a committee of trustees and is registered with the Charity Commission.
