IN 2011, the 7th Harlow Scout Hut was burnt down. It was a bitter blow to all those concerned. But now they have taken the first steps to rebuilding the hut.
On Saturday morning, Harlow MP. Robert Halfon, Deputy Chair of Harlow Council, were joined by many of the scouts as they have started to build on the new site.
A spokesperson said: “The new site will cost around £150,000 and over the past two years we’ve done plenty of fund-raising activities to try and and raise the money including abseiling down the water tower, clothing collections and quiz nights however there is still a long way to go.
“We are also running a buy a brick scheme in which people pay £5 for a ‘brick’.
“Any person, organisation or company which buys ten bricks will also receive a plaque in the new building.
“For anyone interested in buying a brick they should contact Denise Dalby at [email protected], or for fundraising they should contact [email protected]
