FIRE CREWS wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel to tackle a fire in a brick built recycling unit, situated beneath a high rise tower block in Spring Hills Tower, Hobtoe Road.

Crews arriving at the scene at 8pm on Tuesday January 21st reported that the unit was well alight. Police were called to the scene as the cause of the fire is thought to be deliberate.

Five appliances were sent to the scene as a precautionary measure – this is the pre-determined attendance for an incident involving a high rise tower block.
