Harlow boy, assaulted in November, dies of unrelated condition

DETECTIVES in Harlow are renewing their appeal for information about an assault in Harlow which left a 17-year-old man with a broken ankle and facial injuries.

The victim, Jake Taylor, of Tithelands in the town, died on Wednesday, January 15 of natural causes from an unrelated medical condition but police are determined to carry on with the investigation into his assault.

Investigating Officer, Dc Mike Ferguson, said: “I was very sad to be informed of Jake’s recent death, but that has only renewed my commitment to put the suspects in this case before the courts. Jake was reported to have been assaulted outside a house party in Woodwards in Harlow between 10.15-11pm on Friday November 22, 2013.

“I know there were at least 35 people at this party but so far only a handful of them have come forward. I urgently need these people to tell me what they know about what happened that night.”

One man has been charged in connection with Jake’s assault already and a further three people have been arrested.

Dean Neil, 20, of Altham Grove, Harlow, was charged with grievous bodily harm without intent and assault. He is currently on court bail to next appear before Chelmsford Crown Court on Monday February 17.

A 20-year-old man from Harlow, was arrested on Sunday November 24, 2013 and a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man were both arrested on Saturday, January 25 on suspicion of assault. All three people are on police bail until Monday, February 24 pending further enquiries.
