ASH Productions Live, a professional touring theatre company is visiting the Harlow Playhouse with their popular family adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen classic tale. The Snow Queen is a story of friendship and the triumph of love over wickedness told in a light-hearted, musical adaptation.
This heartwarming classic features the stunning and exquisite designs of Elizabeth Waghorn and is filled with loveable puppets, audience interaction and original songs to create an enchanting and exciting production that captures the spirit and power of this age-old fairytale.
A Magic Mirror is shattered into a billion pieces – The Snow Queen must retrieve all of the fragments to create a new Ice age and rule earth for all time. Young friends, Kay and Gelda are propelled from childhood games into an adventure full of trails and hardships when the Snow Queen realizes the last remaining fragment of the mirror is held by Gerda.
“Utter delight from start to finish” – Dorset Evening Echo
Producer, Paul Leno who has previously appeared at The Playhouse in a number of their pantomimes said, “We are delighted to be bringing one of our most popular fairytales the Playhouse, a theatre I have such affection for. The Snow Queen is a joyous adaptation of this well-known tale and like most classic stories involves a big journey for it’s central characters and it guarantees fun, music and theatricality a plenty”. The company produces 2 to 3 national tours annually of classic children’s tales – which are then adapted to include the company’s signature brand of upbeat comedy, music and loveable puppets. “The Snow Queen is bound to bring a smile to your face and a tear to your eye” added Edward Johnson, director of the touring production.
“Director Edward Johnson and the ASH Productions Live team have created a happy place of music, song and dance – a wonderful experience for all the family that is an ideal treat for children from 3 to 12 years, and for the great big kids who accompany them!”
