A HARLOW man who was wanted by police and court officials for breaching bail conditions in connection with an ongoing rape investigation has been arrested in Hertfordshire.
Jake Lemaire is facing two rape charges against a teenage girl in Harlow relating to offences in February 2013. Since appearing in court, he had been breaching his court bail conditions.
As a result of media coverage, the 19-year-old former factory worker was arrested by officers from Hertfordshire Constabulary at a residential property in Hoddesdon at 10pm on Tuesday, March 11.
He will appear at Chelmsford Magistrates Court in due course.
Jake Lemaire was arrested in February 2013 and charged in December with two counts of rape against a teenage girl in Harlow.
The 19-year-old factory worker was released on police bail and appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates Court on Wednesday, January 29. He appeared and was given a number of bail conditions which he has since breached.
Investigating Officer, Dc Karen Smale, said: “This man has no shame and no respect for the law. He attended a birthday party at the weekend, knowing that he was in breach of his bail conditions. One of the girls whom he is suspected of raping has seen him in an exclusion zone and is very upset and frightened.
“We have spoken to his parents and they are helping us track him down, but we now desperately need the eyes of the local community both in Harlow and Hoddesdon. He grew up in the Hertfordshire town and still has friends and other family members there. We believe he is sleeping rough in his car.”
Jake Lemaire is described as white, six foot tall, is of slim build and has light-brown hair.
Anyone with information on this man’s whereabouts is urged to contact detectives at Brentwood’s Sexual Offences Investigation Team on 101 or email [email protected]
