Burnt Mill: Come and see how they do it

News / Mon 17th Nov 2014 at 06:44pm

A SCHOOL which leapt from satisfactory to outstanding in just four years is opening up its doors to senior teachers across the country.

Burnt Mill Academy, in First Avenue, Harlow, is inviting senior leadership teams to spend a day at the school to find out what puts it in the top 1% of schools nationally for the value it adds to a student’s achievements.

Toby Hall, assistant headteacher, said: “We are opening up our doors for the first time to leadership teams across the country to showcase how we went from satisfactory to outstanding in four years, how we achieved 86% A* to C including English and maths in 2014 and our plans for steering our school to world class.

“On the day, delegates will gain practical insight from key members of the Burnt Mill leadership team into how we became the fourth most improved school across the country since 2010, along with our plans for the future to sustain and build upon our successes.

“A tour of the school will allow them to see the theory in practice and to share the key element behind our achievements, outstanding teaching.

“Many other conferences and presentations can give you the theory, but our open day will allow you to see in practice the essential elements involved in making a school outstanding.”

The event, from 9am until 3pm on Wednesday November 19, can be booked on www.eventbrite.co.uk by searching Burnt Mill Academy.
