Athletics: Harlow Running Club report

HARLOW Running Club had several runners competing at the Essex 10K Championships at a very wet and undulating course at Chelmsford on Sunday. Jared Bethell finished in 22nd place out of 516 finishers in an excellent 35min 24sec. He was followed home by Jamie Jephcott 85th in 39min 50sec, Jason Haigh 130th in 42min 36sec and John Tennant 185th and 3rd Vet 60 to earn a Championship bronze medal in 44min 41sec. Also running were Paul Dixon 226th in 46min 26sec, Robin Lozeau 283rd in 49min 32sec, Janice Page 296th in 50min 05sec, Debbie Barry 346th in 52min 40sec, David Page 349th in 52min 52sec and in their debut at the distance Celia Haigh 361st in 54min 02sec and Alan Welbelove 429th in 58min 29sec.

Meanwhile at the Harlow Parkrun 5K Jamie Jephcott finished in 1st place out of 107 finishers in a superb 19min 45sec. He was followed by Jason Haigh 7th in 21min 35sec, Andy Terrell 12th in 22min 10sec, Justin Patten 36th in 26min 27sec, Paul Schroder 39th in 27min 12sec, Wendy Spring 49th in 28min 38sec, Joanne Mills 68th and 2nd Lady Vet 65 in 31min 37sec and Pushpa Mistry 73rd in 32min dead.

At the Swindon Parkrun 5K John Bull finished in 55th place out of 369 finishers in 22min 32sec and Alison Bull was 179th in 28min 04sec.

At the Panshanger Parkrun 5K at Hertford Sean Flynn, in his first race since breaking his ankle, finished in 47th place out of 129 finishers in 26min 11sec.

At the very hilly and wet Kendal Mountain Festival Trail 10k Daniel Jephcott finished in 37th place out of 255 finishers in a commendable 47min 03sec.

At the Milton Keynes Movember 10K Sheila Leach finished in 282nd place out of 693 finished in a personal best time for the distance of 59min 13sec.

At the Maravan double marathon event held at Cleethorpes in Lincolnshire on the Humber estuary Andy Kinney finished day 1 in 29th place out of 34 finishers in 5hrs 48min 20sec and on Day 2 was 27th out of 31 finishers in 5hrs 55min 19sec.
