Harlow Council to mark Holocaust Memorial Day

Holocaust HarlowHARLOW Council is to mark Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) with a series of events in both the Civic Centre and at the Town Park.

From 10am to 3pm the Gibberd Gallery, housed within the Civic Centre, will be hosting an exhibition and a table of reflection. Downstairs in the Civic Centre reception a display board and information will be on show to help raise awareness.

At 11am a special tree planting ceremony will take place at Netteswellbury Farm Garden (by the Study Centre), during which a cherry tree will be planted.

From 2pm to 3pm you can join the Town Park staff on a short walk to Peace Wood, looking at trees relating to Holocaust event countries, before participating in the planting of some native shrubs in Peace Wood to mark the day.

Other events also taking place in Harlow on HMD include a a re-dedication of the Peace Garden and a special lunch at the Harlow Museum (from 12.30pm) and a dedication of the Holocaust Memorial Garden at Harlow College (from 3pm).
