Ladies 2’s vs Brentwood 5’s; Home at Leventhorpe Leisure Centre
Saturday 07th March 2015
Harlow Ladies 2’s finished their 2014/15 campaign with a bang on Saturday when they rifled home a 7-0 victory over Away Team Brentwood 5’s.
THE windy weather and extra out-field Brentwood player slowed the girls scoring; but the away team’s lack of goalie soon became apparent when 15 minutes into the first half a stunner of a strike from LHorrax found the back left hand corner of the net; unfortunately however for the Harlow side the goal was disallowed and it was not until the end of the second half that they recovered their momentum and L Horrax was rewarded when her second shot struck the backboard following a collected strike from the top of the D. The midfielder’s killer strike saw the ball to the bottom left corner of the backboard putting the home girls ahead 1-0 at half time.
Harlow once again found their form in the second half and an improvement in the weather saw them up their pace; a run from S Donaghey in Midfield saw the ball passed wide to NJohnson-Marshall who passed to TTaylor whose low swipe made the score 2-0 to the Home Team; T Naidoo made it 3-0 when she received a pass from SAlderson who broke Brentwood’s defensive line with a clear shot toward the Forward; TNaidoo collected the deflection and shot the ball to the left of the Keeper’s foot.
S Care blocked Brentwood’s preceding break and ran the ball forwards to the attacking third; a pass to L Dearman in the middle continued to TNaidoo and LHorrax converted the run with her second goal of the match. The girls continued their storm on the D when a quick interception by E Taylor on the Brentwood pushback saw the ball knocked back to NDonaghey, and back forward to S Donaghey in the middle; the Midfielder ran to the top of the D and struck towards the Keeper; the shot deflected off of TNaidoo’s stick and smashed the backboard; the goal was awarded to the Harlow Team when the Brentwood side confirmed the touch in the D making the score 5-0.
Sarah Donaghey scored the next when a tussle in the D awarded Harlow a Short Corner; upon receiving the ball the Midfielder struck the ball straight at the Keeper and into the backboard. OFigg started the final run for the Harlow girls when her pass forward once again found the stick of LHorrax on the right; with another trademark strike from the Midfielder, the score became 7-0 to the Home Team with LHorrax scoring a Hat-Trick and the final goal of the Match and the Season.
Keeper SFigg scored a clean sheet. Player of the Match went to Tanishka Naidoo.
The girls have now finished their 2014-2015 Season and **subject to confirmation** believe to have finished 2nd in the League; (compared to a 7th placed finish last year) missing out to Rivals Chelmsford by four points!
The girls would like to say many, many thanks to all of their supporters both this week and for the entire Season.
