STRIKE! is “rising star” director Keziah Serreau’s debut show, fusing theatre and circus, it premiered at Jacksons Lane as part of Circusfest 2014. It has since been touring the UK including the City of London Festival and Latitude.
Directed by Keziah Serreau and devised with a company of five highly skilled performers, STRIKE! uses intense physicality and humour, innovative aerial structures that resemble everyday furniture such as a table and chairs, trick cycling, acrobatics, straps, slack rope, object manipulation and a deluge of cardboard boxes to blur the boundaries between circus and theatre.
The audience will be thrust into the Kafka-like world of STRIKE! and witness man’s desire to break free from bureaucracy and the constraints of work. The lives of the office workers are upturned, struggling to maintain a system that is constantly collapsing and colliding with their personal freedoms. The tipping point is coming…
STRIKE! was shortlisted for The Roundhouse – Circus Propeller Prize and a “scratch” performance was part of the Transmission program at Jacksons Lane in September 2013.
Keziah trained as a Director at RADA, since graduating in 2009 she has worked with The Royal Court Theatre, RSC, Roundhouse, Sadlers Wells, Kneehigh, Theatre Royal Stratford East, Soho Theatre, Theatre Royal Bath, The Globe, Birmingham Stage and The Curve Leicester.
