Man robbed in Fourth Avenue subway in Harlow

POLICE are investigating a robbery which took place in Harlow in the early hours of Wednesday, July 1.

A 51-year-old man who lives in the local area was walking through the underpass under Fourth Avenue, at around 3.10am when he was surrounded by a group of five men who stole his mobile phone, £200 in cash and a personal cassette player.

Pc Leo Fordham, of Harlow CID, said: “The men snatched the victim’s mobile phone from him and when he tried to fight back, they threatened him by putting a needle containing dark coloured liquid up to his face. The men then ran off towards Princess Alexandra Hospital.”

The victim was left shaken after the incident but was not injured.

The five men were all wearing dark clothing. Three were black and two were white.
