News / Fri 28th Aug 2015 at 09:39am

NHS 111 and local pharmacies remain available this August Bank Holiday weekend

Local doctors are reminding people to call NHS 111 for free if you need medical advice fast but it’s not an emergency, and to visit your pharmacy for help and advice on managing illnesses such as coughs, headaches, hayfever and upset stomachs.

Pharmacists
”If you need medical help fast but it’s not an emergency, call NHS 111 for free, 24 hours a day. It’s important to remember A&E is not and never has been for non-urgent treatment.”

NHS 111 is free from mobiles and landlines 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year. When calling, a trained advisor will assess your symptoms and arrange the best next steps for you, including an out-of-hours GP appointment where necessary.

Parents, carers and grandparents can also find advice on what to look for and what to do if your child is unwell in our free childhood illnesses guide available to download now on the CCG website at http://www.westessexccg.nhs.uk/your-health/child-health.
