Harlow Conservatives “taking stock” after stormy council meeting

News / Sat 26th Sep 2015 at 11:13am

THE LEADER of the Harlow Conservatives has told YH that they are taking stock after the stormy council meeting in which they felt they were unjustly vilified by Harlow Labour.

As detailed by us, cllr Danny Purton shocked the opposition members from both parties when he linked them to social media attacks on Labour councillor Waida Forman and then uttered the term “Vote Labour if you want a N***** for a neighbour.”

On Friday, YH spoke to cllr Andrew Johnson. He said: “I am still quite shocked at, not only the use of the comment but the sustained attack and accusations levelled at my party and the UKIP members as well.

“There was a poisonous atmosphere in the chamber tonight where two common sense motions descended into bitterness, rancour, malice and spite.

“As a group, we are taking stock and will take our time in deciding if we want to talk any appreciate action.”

YH also spoke to UKIP councillors, Bill Prior and Dan Long who also appealed for “common sense and a sense of what is right” at the meeting.
