MacMillan Coffee Morning
The senior student team of St. Marks planned a MacMillan coffee morning to raise some money for cancer and it was most definitely a success!

The senior student team baked some gorgeous cakes and other delicious treats and topped it off with cups of tea and coffee in order to raise money for a wonderful charity. The students were overwhelmed with all of the support given by their peers as we managed to raise an astounding £150 for cakes that were only 50p or less.

The common room was set up like a little tea party with beautiful table cloths, balloons and paper plates not to mention the dozens of cakes. There wasn’t an individual who went hungry, we were lucky enough to have the Senior Student team bake: Rock cakes, Victoria Sponges, Brownies, Fairy Cakes, Chocolate cake, Banana cake and much more… How could anyone resist?

A spokesperson said: “The event as a whole was a first for the sixth form students and is something that we would love to do every year. It was a fantastic way to raise money for charity but also brought the students closer together as the new year 12’s were able to bond and socialise with the fellow year 13’s over a nice cup of coffee and some cakes.

“By the end of the day the majority were sick of the sight of cakes, this was when we then decided to run competitions like: ‘Guess the weight of the cake’ and ‘How many spots are on the cake?’ It was overall an incredible day and showed a sense of solidarity throughout the Sixth-form, we hope to take part in many more charitable events in the near future”.
