SIR Charles Kao UTC, one of 40 state-funded technical academies for 14-19 year olds throughout England, specialises in Medical Technology and Smart Environments. Students have the opportunity to join the University Technical College full-time at Year 10 to study their GCSEs or in Year 12 to study their A Level qualifications.

The UTC offers a number of benefits, including key links with local employers such as Pearson, GlaxoSmithKline and Raytheon, who help to develop a dynamic curriculum to provide students with the skills for the future.

Students at Sir Charles Kao UTC also benefit from smaller class sizes, with a maximum of 25 students in a class at Key Stage 4, enabling the students to be best supported to achieve to high grades no matter their starting point; of students who took their GCSE Maths early in 2015, 100% received A*-A.

Based on the Harlow College campus in a purpose-built centre of learning, students are surrounded by new technologies and facilities to help stimulate their interest in the scientific and technological fields.

Principal Michael McKeaveney said:

“Once again, we have been recruiting a talented and passionate cohort to join us in September but I’m pleased to say there is still room for more.

I am looking forward to meeting students with an enthusiasm and aptitude in the science, mathematics, engineering and computing fields in the coming weeks, before we close our applications on Friday 26th February 2016”
