AFTER the theft of the vehicle used by Harlow Rockschool to transport equipment to and from their gigs, a local business has stepped forward to help ensure the same fate does not befall its replacement.
Rockschool trustee and volunteer Martin Elven had his Transit van stolen from outside his house in Harlow last month, leaving him unable to work and Rockschool with no means of transporting their equipment.
Whilst posting on various social media sites in an attempt to locate the missing vehicle, Rockschool were contacted by Daniel Freeman, director of South Essex Automotive Accessories, who kindly offered to advise and assist with security on a replacement once sourced.
“I was devastated when the van was stolen” said Martin “but the response on social media, coupled with Daniel’s kind offer has restored my faith in the goodness of the local population. The replacement vehicle now sports deadlocks on the cab doors, plus further security measures that should prevent its unauthorised removal”.
“Unfortunately, theft of and from commercial vehicles is an all too common occurrence these days” said Mr Freeman. “Given what Martin does for the charity, helping out with security for the replacement seemed the least I could do”.
