Thurrock Ladies 4 v 2 Harlow

Thurrock have continued their impressive run of performances to avoid relegation.

A late illness of a player meant that the ladies had to play with omly 10. This issue did not dampen the ladies spirits.

A feisty start was had when both teams were fighting for supremacy. It took a short corner for the ladies to go ahead. T’s are playing with such confidence and it was clear that corner striker FAY TUFFEE was going to score. Her shot was as usual unstoppable.

Ts enjoyed their lead and threatened to increase their lead. Unfortunately T’s were unable to stop Harlow from scoring with a high deflection that keeper LAURA reynolds managed to get a hand to.

A switch was turned on and T’s struck back.

Another short corner and JO DISS was on hand to fire home a loose ball in the circle.

Then it was ABBIE POLLOCK’S turn to add to the score sheet from yet another loose ball after a short corner.she worked hard in the circle and thoroughly deserved her reward.

The 4th goal came from open play after TUFFEE sent searching ball through to the ever dangerous SHANNON HARVEY. HARVEY weaved her way through and slipped the ball to JACKIE SIMMONDS who drew the keeper out and then flicked the ball into the far corner.

Just before half time TUFFEE received another corner. This was fired with such force that it rocked the upright but didn’t cross the line.

The 2nd half saw the defence pushed to its limits but CHERYL BROADBENT MARSHALLED HER TEAM so well that the onslaught was truly squashed.

Unfortunately a momentary lapse allowed Harlow to sneak a goal back.

A wonderful performance.

TUFFEE and BROADBENT were joint players of the match in a team of stars!
