People are asked to check that they have enough medication to last them from Friday 25 March to Monday 28 March and order repeat prescriptions as soon as possible if necessary.

The Weekend GP Service is also available across west Essex and extra appointments are available throughout the weekend. Patients are advised to contact their GP to book a slot if they need one, as it is not a walk-in service.

Dr Rob Gerlis, Chair of West Essex CCG and Harlow GP said: “Choosing the right healthcare service is as important as ever this Easter weekend and we have extra GP appointments available. Please take note of the opening hours and, if you need to see a GP or nurse over the bank holiday weekend, please book an appointment.

“Patients are reminded that A&E is for serious and life-threatening injuries and conditions only. NHS 111 remains available for free all day, every day, for when you need medical help fast but it’s not an emergency. It is for free from mobiles and landlines 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A trained advisor will assess your symptoms and arrange the best next steps for you.”
