THE Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust Patient Panel host ‘Facing the Challenges of End of Life Care’ Conference

The Patient Panel will be hosting a conference at Harlow Leisure Zone on 11 May from 10.30am to 3pm, which will discuss the taboos and myths of end of life care, with the support of experts in the field. Everyone is welcome.

Andy Morris, Chief Medical Officer at Princess Alexandra Hospital, will be a keynote speaker at the event and said: “As health professionals we are all faced with an element of end of life care every day. It is such an important subject and I’m looking forward to hearing people’s views and discussing some of the new developments happening at Princess Alexandra Hospital.”

Other keynote speakers include Claire Henry, Chief Executive of The National Council for Palliative Care with Phil Morley, Chief Executive opening the conference.

The conference coincides with Dying Matters Awareness Week, which takes place from 9 to 15 May with events happening across England and Wales.

Ann Nutt, Chair of Patient Panel said: “The conference will bring all the different aspects of end of life care together and help people to understand that it is a subject we shouldn’t avoid talking about. Our keynote speakers will be delivering invaluable insight and it should be a great learning experience to anyone who attends. The topics covered will be vast, from information for carers to advanced care planning.  The topic is important to everyone including patients, families, carers, employees in health, social, voluntary and independent care sectors. People from all walks of life are welcome to attend.”


The event is free to members of the public and the voluntary sector. However, there will be a £10 fee for the statutory and private sector which will cover refreshments and parking.
