LAST Friday (April 29th), Robert Halfon visited the local Harlow Air Cadet Squadron’s annual open evening where he spoke to the cadets, parents and staff.
He was given a tour of the base, observing cadets take part in a number of demonstrations including first aid training, flight simulation and camping. Following his tour, the cadet band played a number of marches in a demonstration for the visitors.
Robert Halfon was honoured to present certificates and awards to a number of cadets for courses and achievements they had completed including members of the band who had reached a high competency on the glockenspiel.
Robert Halfon MP:
“It was a pleasure meeting so many air cadets and their parents at their open evening. They are doing a brilliant job and I cannot thank the staff enough for all their efforts in planning this evening.
The training the air cadets go through is very important and I am proud that the local Squadron will be able to celebrate their 60th anniversary next year.
I met some inspirational young people who plan to go on to be engineers and pilots in the RAF, an it is great to see Harlow’s next generation being so involved in the community. ”
There are currently 35 air cadets affiliated to the Squadron and they range from the ages 12-18 and it has been based at the TA Centre for the last two years.
