Harvey Centre set to transform Christmas for poorly children

Communities / Tue 29th Nov 2016 at 09:06am

THIS year The Harvey Centre will be helping to transform Christmas for local children being treated at The Dolphin Ward, within the Princess Alexandra Hospital. The Centre will be generously donating over £1,500 worth of Christmas gifts to children on Tuesday 6th December. All gifts will be purchased by The Harvey Centre from a variety of stores situated within the centre.

In addition, on Tuesday 6th December all children on The Dolphin Ward will have lunch with Santa, thanks to The Harvey Centre. Children will be able to enjoy an assortment of sandwiches, cakes, biscuits, crisps and chocolate, which are kindly being donated by Subway and Tesco in the centre. After enjoying the ultimate festive feast, kids will be able to speak with Santa and give him their Christmas wish. Some gifts will then be handed out with the majority being held in the ward to be handed out nearer to Christmas.

Following the lunch children will be able to attend an arts and crafts workshop on the ward, which will be run by kid’s entertainment experts, Phoenix Resources. The little ones will be encouraged to make their own festive decorations, which they can either take home or if they are staying in hospital during Christmas, they will be able to use them to decorate their bed.

Bryan Young, Centre Manager at The Harvey Centre says, “We are incredibly proud to be supporting The Dolphin Ward this year. These children are beyond brave and we really want to treat them to a really special day on 6th December, which is why we are bringing a huge amount of activity to the ward. We can’t wait to see their little faces when they meet Santa and receive their carefully chosen gift!”
