Burnt Mill primaries host first triathlon
Burnt Mill Academy / Wed 30th Nov 2016 at 05:46pm
ON Thursday 24th November Burnt Mill Academy hosted the first BMAT Primary Sports Mini Triathlon. Pupils from Cooks Spinney, Freshwaters and Little Parndon primaries competed in the event assisted by Burnt Mill Academy Sports Leader students.
The Mini Triathlon started in the swimming pool, with the girls race first, followed by the boys. It was a timed race so the clocks were stopped after the swim in order to let the children dry off and change ready for the outdoor section of the event.
The playground had been set up with a cycling course and each competitor had to complete 5 laps before leaving their bike for a run around the school field. All of the students taking part tackled and conquered the full course.
This was the first Triathlon event, but BMAT Primary PE, led by Mr Dawes, run regular events both during and after school, bringing together our primary athletes to train, compete and succeed together.
