PERFORMING arts students from Hertford Regional College produced their very own puppet show with children on Dolphin Ward at Princess Alexandra Hospital on Friday 9 December.

Using puppets, the students incorporated reading, writing, maths and emotional intelligence into their performance, and got the children involved in a journey to learn new words. The students, Eliana Boateng, Annabelle Christodoulou, Sara-Marie Clarke, Karan Cuckston, Mia Foley, Jack Lawes and Steven Luzengi, are studying Performing and Production Arts, and created the piece as part of their Theatre for Children assessment.

Alison Fiske, Dolphin Ward Co-ordinator, said: “It was great to see the children interacting and having fun while learning. Being in hospital is a scary time for children, so it was amazing for the students of Hertford Regional College to donate their time. We look forward to seeing more of them in the future.”

PAHT are looking forward to the students returning, with plans for them to donate their time reading to the Dolphin Ward’s young patients, and more. The Trust works closely with its community and has relished the opportunity to strengthen their relationship with the college, and to support their students in their studies.
