Mulan – Not Just Another Fairytale Princess

AUDIENCES were transported back in time to Ancient China last night when students from Passmores, Purford Green and Potter Street unveiled their stage adaptation of the classic Chinese folk tale, Mulan.

The story of a young woman who secretly joins the army to fight in place of her aged father, Mulan turns the concept of the traditional fairy tale on its head – this time, it’s the female heroine who overcomes adversity to save the day.

Fantastic production, costumes and set design provide the atmosphere. The cast, made up of some of our youngest students did not disappoint, delighting the audience with their performance of this heart-warming tale. An energetic mixture of action, song, dance, laughs and lots of cross dressing, Mulan packs a punch in more ways than one.
