Free Family Print Workshops
to celebrate Harlow 70th
at Gibberd Gallery, Harlow Town Centre
Saturday 18th February 11am-2pm
THE homes of Harlow New Town would have been full of pattern in the 1950’s. These striking iconic designs adorned curtains, cushions, carpets, rugs and clothing. Explore the simplicity of 50’s textile design to inspire ideas for a wallpaper to be used in an exhibition at the Gibberd Gallery later in the year. Participants will learn basic print techniques to create their own wallpaper print ideas.
Also our open Saturday event is a great opportunity to look around the Gibberd Gallery and discover the wonderful 20th Century Watercolour collection containing work by British artists such as John Nash, Elizabeth Blackadder, Dame Laura Knight, Edward Bawden. Visit the current exhibition Harlow17 our most diverse annual show which displays 90+ artworks, from print, drawing, painting to sculpture, where there is something of interest for everyone. If you have time you can then explore more of Harlow and it’s Public collection of 85 sculptures which are scattered around the town, works by Moore, Hepworth, Fink, Rodin, Chadwick….too many to list.
