Holi

KIDDI Caru’s Day nursery in Harlow was a riot of colour yesterday as the children and staff enjoyed celebrating Holi.

Holi, also widely known as the Festival of Colours, is a Hindu festival that marks the arrival of spring and celebrates love, colour and the triumph of good over evil.

The children made posters depicting scenes from some of Holi’s famous legends and had a paint run in the nursery’s garden. They even threw coloured water and paints at each other, to replicate the celebrations common in India and Nepal.

The nursery’s special children’s oven was also put to good use, with the pre-school children cooking some traditional Holi foods for everyone to try.

Louise Farrow, Nursery Manager, said: “It’s really important that children understand and appreciate lots of different and diverse cultures. We have children at our nursery from lots of different countries and we really enjoy learning about their special days and the traditions that are associated with them. We always look forward to Holi as it is such a colourful celebration.”
