Charity comedy night set for Harlow

LIVE stand up comedy from the heart of Harlow. Clare McCartney presents Phoenix Comedy Nights introducing some of the newest local talent and exclusive Edingburgh Fringe Festival acts preiview their new material.

The headline act Sammy is from the Black Country and best known for performing and campaigning topless (although her club set is fully clothed). As well as being an advocate of #FreeTheNipple and sex-positive feminism she cares deeply about mental health issues and campaigns against social cleansing. She’s a member of her local action group Walsall Against Cuts and was a member of Sweets Way Resists and the Occupy movement. Samantha has been performing stand-up comedy for three years previously working as a cheerleader, model and actress. Training at the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in Hollywood which counts Sienna Miller, Angelina Jolie and Scarlet Johansson among their alumni.

This year she started her social enterprise ‘Love Muffin Productions’ with the help of the governments New Enterprise Allowance. As well as producing socially conscious work, the aim is to help people from underprivileged backgrounds reach their potential. As a blogger her work has been published on Chortle and Huffington Post.

Local stand up from the circuit will be supporting and compered by Clare McCartney.

Clare perfromed her debut stand up gig at the Bedford Balham ,as her comedy character Cindy Dahl .She then performed at Edinburgh Festival as Lady Tena as part of The Funny’s Funny Finale. She has also performed at Komedia and at various charity events & at Camden Fringe, Brighton Fringe & Edinburgh Festival three times in her solo shows, also in various pissy pubs and small tents. 2013 was Clare’s first solo show at Ediburgh Fringe Festival. “Clare Harrison’s 15 Inches of fame ” was also shown at Brighton Fringe & got some great media attention. Local to Essex Clare is also a trained actor. T.V and radio presenter as well as a yoga teacher.
