THERE were brilliant efforts all-round, and some excellent finishes, as the Essex County FA hosted the Under 14s Boys and Girls East Region Futsal Finals on Sunday 4th June at the Copper Box Arena in East London.

Essex’s Under 14s representatives were Harlow’s Passmores Academy (Boys) and Sandon School (Girls) from Chelmsford, with Passmores winning to advance to the National Finals. Congratulations went to St Ives Rangers from Cambridgeshire, who won the girls’ section.

Later on in the Under 16s, Bedfordshire’s AFC Dunstable were the boys’ winners, while St Albans City, of Hertfordshire, qualified for the girls’ nationals. Essex were represented well by Notley High School Girls (Braintree) and Beauchamps High School Boys (Wickford). Before the day’s play, a one-minute silence was brilliantly observed in solidarity with the victims of the recent tragedies in Manchester and London.

The previous day, Hertfordshire County FA hosted the Under 10s and 12s Boys and Girls categories, with Forest Glade (Billericay) and Galleywood (Chelmsford) qualifying as the respective winners. Island Girls Under 10s (Canvey Island) and West Ham United Under 12s Girls represented Essex well, but unfortunately didn’t make it to the next stage.

There had already been additional success elsewhere for Essex-connected West Ham United in the Under 10s Girls London Regionals, with Eastbury Comprehensive School’s Under 16s Boys and Finta Futsal Under 12s Boys also finding success along that route.
