Owen Walsall

YOUNG Owen Lambert (11) from Harlow Judo Club, made the long trip to Walsall to compete at the Age Banded English Minors Open which was held at the British Judo Centre of Excellence.

Due to the number of entrants, Owen’s weight group was split into two pools where each player fought one another. Two winners from each pool then met in the cross-over to fight off for the medals.

Owen won all of his fights in his pool and continued his winning streak to get him into the final. Unfortunately he was unable to win his seventh fight despite scoring first, and with the Gold medal in sight, a referee’s decision denied him this and eventually he had to settle for a very respectable Silver medal.

Harlow Judo Club caters for those with special needs and has a Coach specifically for this area. Please contact the Club for more details.

They are based in Foldcroft, Harlow, CM20 1SE. For training times, please visit www.harlowjudoclub.com or contact Gill Ellis on [email protected] or 07976 955905 for further information.
