Cricket: Rain thwarts Harlow’s efforts

RAIN eventually washed out all Harlow games on Saturday with all teams in strong positions. 1st XI playing at home against Orsett had scored 217/3 off 42 overs before rain stopped play for an early tea.

Captain Rehman Ahmed had scored 51 before being caught and Ahmed Khawaja was on 75 and scoring runs with ease. The rain did stop and both captains wanted to continue knowing a win would lift either side up to 3rd place in the table, but the rain returned and game was called off. The 2nd XI playing Hutton away bowled them all out for 150 with wicketkeeper John Perry taking five catches, four off the bowling of Liam Coldwell who had taken 30/4 from 8 overs.

With hopes high of victory the rain game down and the game was abandoned before Harlow could face a ball.The 3rd XI had a rain delayed start before putting on 95/3 in under 15 overs against Woodford Wells 3rd XI before the game was abandoned due to the return of rain.

The 4th XI playing at home to Orsett had scored 201/4 off 36 overs, Mashood Iqbal was on 84 not out and Iihan Mustafa out 63 before they also fell victims to the weather like all the others.
