Stewards Summer

THE Performing Arts department at Stewards Academy had a busy end of term with two events that showcased an incredible wealth of talent.

Over fifty students from years 7-9 took part in the Lower School Showcase performing a range of dances and songs. Soloists, bands and the Dance Club took to the stage for three performances, two to the forthcoming year 7 students and one in the evening to friends and family. Three enthusiastic audiences supported the performers with cheers and applause throughout.

The Lower School Showcase would have been an excellent event to round of a busy year for the department however the decision was made to have an extra special Summer Concert in honour of one of its biggest supporters, Rhonda Murthar Headteacher.

A night at the musicals was the theme for the evening with over 90 students, past and present, involved with producing a fantastic night of entertainment. The Hall was packed to the rafters with an appreciative and joyous audience who joined us to celebrate our fantastic performers and say thank you to our wonderful headteacher.

Di Johnson, Head of Performing Arts, said: “Events such as these really remind us why we do this job. No matter how busy or how stressful a day may have been, working with these amazing students and watching the sheer joy of performers and audience alike makes it all worthwhile.”
